Packing a Sofa Properly when Moving
During a move, one of the items that will have to be packed properly is a couch. Packing a sofa can be done the right way when utilizing the correct materials. These materials include the sofa itself, packing blankets, micro foam, paper pads, shrink wrap, and/or packaging tape. Though all these may not be needed, each provides a great way to safely transport a sofa.
Each way in packing a sofa correctly revolves around wrapping the couch itself in a protective material. The first way is to wrap the sofa completely with packing blankets then taping the sides down so there are no openings in the wrap. Use the packing tape to secure the contents inside tightly together while not stressing the frame of the couch.
Another way packing a sofa can be done properly is to use paper padding and shrink wrap. Stack the paper padding over every part of the couch to ensure that if it is jostled in a moving truck, items cannot hurt the cushions or frame of the sofa. After the padding is in place, shrink wrap the entire couch to hold the padding in place.
The best and most safe way in packing a sofa is to use micro foam and shrink wrap. Micro foam is a material that will protect each part of the sofa the best and, once applied, can be shrink wrapped and taped into place. The material of micro foam is strong enough to withstand the most punishment while light enough not to hurt the integrity of the couch.
By utilizing any one of these methods, movers and homeowners alike can rest assured that packing a sofa is done correctly when relocating. Replacing furniture can be a nightmarish outcome of moving that can be quite expensive. Save money and make sure that these items are safely packaged and stowed away securely in the moving truck.
