Knowing The Moving Truck Driver's Responsibilities
When people make a move, they usually employ the services of a moving company, but they are often unsure of what the company is responsible for. The moving company is not, for example, responsible for packing up the house, but they do have many other obligations. The most important member of the moving team is the driver, so it is especially important to know the moving truck driver's responsibilities.
The first of the moving truck driver's responsibilities on moving day is to organize the moving crew and make sure that they are all at the house prepared and on time. Once the move begins, the driver will be responsible for delegating responsibilities to the movers. They will be the person who generally oversees the move and all of the people working on it.
It is also one of the moving truck driver's responsibilities to be the point person for the client throughout the moving process. Chances are good that they will be the most experienced member of the crew, so they should be able to answer any questions. The other movers will be busy with their own jobs, but it is the driver's responsibility to assist the client, so go to them first with any issues or concerns.
In addition to being the general contact for the move, one of the moving truck driver's responsibilities is to handle the contract and payment. Once all of the items have been placed on the trucks, the driver should meet with the client to review the contract and inventory list once more. They will also collect all payment and communicate with the dispatching center about the move in progress.
It is important to be clear on the moving truck driver's responsibilities. Clients should not be afraid to ask them for help, but it is also important not to burden and distract them with things that they are not responsible for. Before beginning a move with a company, speak with them directly and make sure that everyone is on the same page as far as the driver's obligations.
